The Adventures of Professor Photon: Lost In Time
A 3D platform game prototype using the Unreal Engine.
A prototype for a platform game, developed during my MA studies along side three MSc Games Software Development students. The premise for the game revolves around an aspiring time-travelling scientist who gets stuck in the past during time travel due to a malfunction in his time travelling equipment. The player has to collect pieces of the time machine throughout different eras of history to progress back to the future. In the prototype, the level we focussed on was 1960s London. We produced a segment of the level focussing on Piccaddilly Circus.
As I was the only artist within the group, I was solely responsible for the visuals of the game. Due to short time of development, I opted for a unique yet cartoonish look for the game so ensured the evironment had a distinct yet 60s vibe to it and gave the characters a segmented look, similar to the Rayman games. Although the prototype was developed on the PC, the game was pitched as mobile/PC indy game so all models were of a low polygon count and textures sizes were kept to a minumum. A video demo of the prototype can be seen below.
